The Summer Camps Trustees
Our Board of Trustees includes leaders in the world of outdoor education with a broad and comprehensive knowledge of summer camp provision in the UK. The board includes representatives from each of the main political parties and has full, enthusiastic support in the educational and outdoor industries.
Lord David Ramsbotham GCB, CBE
David is is a retired British Army officer, who later served as Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Prisons. He was awarded a life peerage in 2005, and now sits on the cross benches of the House of Lords. David supports a number of charitable bodies which aim to improve life chances and raise aspirations in children and young people.
Chris Green MBE
Chris was awarded the MBE in the New Year Honours List 2011 for services to education through summer camps. He had previously been involved in establishing and managing Colony Holidays (est. 1963), a provider of summer camps in the United Kingdom from the 1960s to 1980s
Ian is director of the Campaign for Adventure which promotes achievement through adventure, community and creatitivity. Ian provides the secretariat to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Adventure and Recreation in Society in UK. Ian is the chairperson for the Trust

Key in the success of a summer camp is the great work done by our young adult leaders. Being more like older brothers or sisters than teachers, they become a central part of the children's community. If you want to help change young peoples lives.
Rt Hon Jacqui Smith
Jacqui was the Member of Parliament for Redditch and the first ever female Home Secretary. Jacqui has a PPE degree from Oxford and a PGCE from Worcester College of Higher Education. Jacqui is Chairman of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Trust
Tricia is the joint-founder and Director of Mill on the Brue Outdoor Activity Centre. Tricia is also Vice-Chair of the British Activity Providers Association (the BAPA) and has been on the board of the Activities Industry Mutual Insurance Company since it began.
Sir Bob Russell
Bob is a Liberal Democrat politician who was the Member of Parliament for Colchester from 1997 to 2015. Bob was knighted in the 2012 New Year Honours for public service
Ben has worked for the British Council for more than 25 years, in a number of roles, and in the UK and overseas. He attended, and then worked on, summer camps in the UK; he also worked on summer camps in the USA for two summers. He has been on the governing council of the ATE Trust since 2005
Keith is the Executive Director of the UK branch of Christian Camping International. Prior to joining CCI UK, Keith was CEO at George Muller Charitable Trust in Bristol
Sir Julian Brazier
Sir Julian was a Conservative MP for Canterbury and Whitstable. Prior to his career in politics, Sir Julian served as an officer in the Territorial Army for thirteen years, five of them in the SAS. Sir Julian co-chaired the all-party Group for Adventure and Recreation in society between 2004 and 2011.
Megan Saunders Smith
Megan Saunders Smith has just started a degree in English and Classics at Trinity College Dublin, and has volunteered for various child-focused non profits for the last 3 years. She also acts as social media coordinator for the Summer Camps Trust.
Malcolm Trobe, CBE
Malcolm worked with Colony Holidays as a young man, became a very distinguished headteacher in Wiltshire, and has recently been Assistant General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders.
