Dorms
Children sleep in youth hostel style accommodation, in shared rooms known as dorms. Dorms feature a mix of single and bunk beds, and are allocated according to age and sex. Separate washing and bathroom facilities are available.
Meal Times
Meal times are an important part of the camp community, with everyone coming together to enjoy breakfast, lunch and supper. We also have morning snack and afternoon tea - to keep everyone full throughout the day!
We cater for most allergies and dietary requirements. If your child has any specific dietary needs, please get in touch so we can make the necessary arrangements.
Activities
No two camps are ever the same.
Featherstone Castle has lots of places in which to have some amazing adventures, our playing spaces include a ballroom to the medieval banqueting hall.
Camp is proudly screen free and our activities are influenced by our campers and staff, All staff are highly trained and enthusiastic they have an endless stream of new ideas learnt from our well respected training course Summer camp trust favourites include; Danish Longball, and Battleships by torch light amongst others.
There is also lots of space to make crafts, build dens, form friendships and have a lot of laughter.
Take a look at the photos from previous camps to see what you might get up to!
Travel
Start your summer adventure with our accompanied travel system. This is included in the price of the holiday, and is often mentioned as one of the highlights! Your child will be met at a selected train/coach station, by a monitor. They will then join up with lots of others along the way, finally ending at Featherstone Castle. The journey home is repeated in reverse.
Alternatively, you can choose to travel to camp by car.
Meet the Team for 2027
Director
Jo, has directed for the Summer Camps Trust since 2019; but actually trained as a monitor in 1997. Her connection to Camps goes back even further as her father was a monitor at Featherstone Castle in the 1970s!
Assistant Directors
Our current Assistant Directors have back grounds as varied as their camp roles. These include everything from the sciences and outdoor education to crafts and dance.
Matrons
Our matrons, left, are highly skilled in nursing and hugs.
They both have talents in the arts and music and can whip out a friendship bracelet or ukulele at the stroke of a plaster!
Cook
Carol is our head cook, who has catered for our camps since 2021.
She keeps all tummy rumblings at bay!
Monitors
Every monitor has attended and passed our 7 day residential course. They are well equipped to create a week full of friendship, fun and laughter.
